Applying to universities can be a long drawn affair and I was particular about working with someone who brought a sense of structure and understanding to the whole process. The first introductory call you have with FlyGrads is not about trying to find the best university based on your score and selling the firm’s services but about understanding if a master’s degree is the right choice for you. The intent to do what’s right by the applicant and the fact that he was in my shoes before made me want to work with Sreeram and I must say that it has been one of the best choices I made in my pursuit of securing an admission.
One needs to make a distinction between what Sreeram does at FlyGrads and regular educational consultants. Over the course of working with FlyGrads, there were several times when I was pleasantly surprised with the approach they follow. I had contacted Sreeram through a US Aspirant Facebook group when I had just taken my GRE and I was starting with the other aspects of my profile, such as, resume, SOP - which in my opinion is the most important part of the candidature, and the LORs.
Sreeram did not hesitate even slightly and started helping me out right away. He gave me really important tips so that my resume stands out. Moreover, his attention to detail with regards to formatting to make it look perfect is definitely worth a mention. Once I finished my resume, I had a few iterations for my SOP with Sreeram. Over the first conversation itself, he told me that while applying to top universities, you need to have a customized SOP as compared to just changing the last paragraph. FlyGrads partnered with me right from before my GRE when I reached out to Sreeram until post my admission to Carnegie Mellon University. Sreeram provided me a customized exhaustive GRE word list which was instrumental in improving my Verbal Score on the GRE. Having gone thru the GRE preparation himself, he also guided me to the most effective resources to prepare and practice for the Quantitative section of the GRE knowing my time constraints.
His continuous guidance and involvement in helping me target the right universities to apply to was critical to me having a great chance to get into one of my dream schools. Choosing FlyGrads was one of the best decisions I made after I decided to pursue graduate studies. I got to know about a college alumni starting a venture in the same field and decided to give it a shot since their motto is that each candidate is different and it is that uniqueness that needs to be highlighted to formulate a winning SOP. This was very different from the other consultancies who follow a fixed template and in the end, they roll out hundreds of similar SOPs. This is something that I feel aspiring students largely overlook due to the sheer convenience of getting the entire SOP ready at their disposal by answering a few questions. If only getting into a dream school was that easy!
